Chef Jobs On Cruise Ships
There are lots of different jobs in the kitchen (galley). Jobs or usually divided into hot galley jobs (all type of cooking, grill…) and cold galley jobs (pastry, baking, buffet). Some of these jobs require extensive prior experience, but there are also other entry-level jobs - and sure, there is also the cleaning department: washing dishes and pots, cleaning the tables, vacuuming the floor…
The galley department usually offers the following types of jobs:
* Executive chef
* Assistant executive chef
* First cook
* Second cook
* Cook trainee
* Crew cook
* Pastry chef
* And many others…
The executive chef is responsible for planning, quality control and the entire kitchen staff. Must have extensive experience and good English language skills. Salary range: $4000 - 5000 per month.
The assistant executive chef is responsible for various day to day operations and assists the executive chef. Several years in a subordinate position as well as good English skills are required. Salary range: $3500 - 4000 per month.
The first cook supervises the second- and third cook and takes care of food preparation and other tasks as directed by the E.C. 2 - 3 years in a subordinate position as well as good English skills are required. Salary range: ~$2000 per month.
The cook trainee takes care of tasks as directed by the first cook. Some prior experience is required. Salary range: $700 - 900 per month.
